Photo paper for fantastic prints

This requires a quality photo paper that corresponds to our needs and the project. The first thing to consider when printing at home is the printer itself. Kodak has a range of paper suitable for inkjet printers, which make up the vast majority of non-professional printers. You also need to make sure your printer can handle photo paper, which is usually heavier than standard paper.

The weight of standard paper is usually anything up to 100 gsm or g/m². The ideal weight for photo prints is 120 gsm, which includes adhesive papers that are thin enough to stick to a page without getting distorted. Photo paper generally weighs between 180 and 300 g/m². The higher the index, the thicker, sturdier and higher the quality of the paper A 200 gsm paper is ideal for a photo you want to frame for example, while a 280 gsm photo paper will be perfect for postcards or exhibition prints. Choosing the right paper is therefore essential to ensure you obtain the desired finish and that your print corresponds to the project you have in mind.

And then there's the finish: matte, glossy, or even extra-glossy, each will transform your photo differently! Both amateur and professional photographers should take the time to choose the type of coating to ensure a quality finish. Glossy or extra-glossy paper gives a particularly bright finish, which will bring out the colours, especially brighter tones. It's therefore ideal for colour printing, where a vibrant finish is essential. It has only one small flaw: fingerprints show up, so be careful when handling it! Matte paper, as the name suggests, doesn't have a glossy finish. It's great for an understated vintage look for colour photos but generally works best for black-and-white shots. It provides a certain depth and contrast. While there's no risk of reflections spoiling the photo, you need to make sure it doesn't dull the colours.
